Teen facing charges following fatal crash with cyclist on Rickenbacker Causeway

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A teenager is under arrest after a cyclist lost his life while riding with his wife on the Rickenbacker Causeway.

Miami police have arrested 14-year-old Vladimir Kuchin.

They say he was riding an electric motorcycle as part of a large group of liveliness, riding dirt bikes to Key Biscayne, on Friday at around 8:30 p.m.

According to police, Kuchin was in the bike lane, and so was the victim and his wife, when the teen tried to get to the front of the group and instead rear ended the victim.

Kuchin’s arrest report stated the following:

“According to the witness, the defendant accelerated towards the front of the group. The witness then observed vehicle #1 rear-end the victim. The victim was subsequently thrown to the ground and began to bleed from his nose and ears.”

Both the suspect and victim taken to the hospital, where the victim would sadly pass away.

Police said the teens didn’t have a valid driver’s license due to failure to attend school.
