WEST PARK, Fla. — Ring camera video obtained exclusively by Local 10 News captured the moments a man was mauled by three dogs in a West Park neighborhood Monday afternoon.

“It could be a kid. My cat’s here, it could be a cat. My wife is pregnant, it could be her,” said witness Alberto Dominguez.

The attack happened near the intersection of Southwest 38th Street and 58th Avenue shortly after 1 p.m.

Deputies said they arrived to find the man with lacerations consistent with a dog attack. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Video shows the man falling as the dogs charge and knock him down again. At several points, the animals drag him to the ground.

“I could hear the screams from my camera. By the time he got over here, he was on the ground fighting them,” Dominguez said.

The video later picks up someone calling out from a distance.

“Let’s go. Come on. Let’s go,” the voice shouted, before the dogs finally left the man alone.

“He’s bloody, everything down here is all blood,” Dominguez said.

Dominguez rushed to the scene and said the man had a deep wound on his leg.

“His shoes were on the street. He was barefooted. And he was just shaking, like that, shaking,” he recalled.

Another neighbor dialed 911, and Dominguez said he saw paramedics load the injured man into an ambulance. The victim’s shirt was later found hanging on a nearby fence.

Following the incident, authorities said an animal care officer and a sheriff’s deputy went to the dogs’ residence, where they were contained in a backyard shed.

They said the dog owner’s boyfriend voluntarily relinquished all three dogs to animal care custody, where they were humanely euthanized.

BSO later confirmed the dogs’ owner, Johnecca Peeks, 37, was arrested on an active warrant for grand theft out of Manatee County.

Detectives emphasized that his arrest was unrelated to Monday’s dog attack.

Witnesses said the dogs belonged to Peeks, who lives in the neighborhood.

“(I) started asking around today with some of the neighbors. They tell me yeah, those are vicious dogs,” Dominguez said.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the breed of dogs involved in the attack.
