World War II veteran celebrates 101th birthday

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. — A special tribute and birthday celebration was held Sunday for a 101-year-old World War II veteran.

Robert “Woody” Woodbury, who also served in the Korean War, has led an extraordinary life spanning a century of American history.

After his military service, he transitioned to a successful career as a Hollywood performer and comedian.

Woody was honored with an event hall named in his honor at the American Legion Post 222 facility.

The event also aimed to raise funds for other American Legion facilities, ensuring they continue to serve as vital community hubs for veterans and their families.
