Investigators said Edwin Alberto Serrano hit and killed Stefhany Reconco-Rosales, 26, near the 809 Miami Lounge at 3496 NW 32nd Ave., a few blocks outside of the Miami city limits.

The crash happened just before 5:30 Sunday morning.

Investigators said Serrano, of southwest Miami-Dade, was behind the wheel of a white Cadillac Escalade when he hit Reconco-Rosales as she crossed the street.

Deputies said CCTV footage showed Serrano briefly slow down after he hit Reconco-Rosales, but he quickly sped up and turned right onto Northwest 36th Street.

Reconco-Rosales would be pronounced dead about 30 minutes later at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Authorities said they found the damaged Escalade parked in front of a home in the 1400 block of Northwest 58th Street, in Miami’s Liberty City neighborhood, at around 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Two hours later, deputies said Serrano turned himself in at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He was taken in for questioning by Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office detectives, but invoked his right to remain silent.

As of Tuesday morning, Serrano remained in TGK on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death. His bond was listed as “to be set” in jail records.
