5-year-old Hollywood girl reported missing found safe in New York; mother arrested, cops say

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A 5-year-old girl reported missing and endangered in Hollywood has been found safe in New York with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, police confirmed Thursday.

Gianna Rodriguez, who was last seen Tuesday at the Hollywood Gateway Inn on Polk Street, was located with her mother, according to Hollywood police spokeswoman Deanna Bettineschi.

Bettineschi said the mother, identified as Simone Sims, has been taken into custody and is facing one count of interference with custody.

Hollywood police first asked for the public’s help Tuesday, saying Gianna was considered missing and endangered.

No other details about Sims or her arrest were immediately released.
