MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 56-year-old man accused of stabbing another man multiple times during a violent dispute in North Miami Beach back in June was arrested on Monday, police confirmed.
Jail records show Gabriel Seth Jones is facing one count each of first-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon and burglary of an occupied dwelling, according to jail records.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred around 4 a.m. June 16 at a home near the 15000 block of Northeast 15th Place.
Police said Jones, who is listed as homeless in his arrest report, entered the fenced home without permission and confronted the victim in his backyard.
According to investigators, Jones began stabbing the victim with what the victim believed was a screwdriver or ice pick.
As the victim tried to fend off the attack with a chair, Jones forced him toward the rear entrance of the home while repeatedly saying, “I’m gonna kill you,” the report stated.
The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to his right forearm, leg and ankle before Jones fled the area, police said.
The arrest report states the victim told police Jones was jealous over his relationship with a woman who previously had a child with Jones.
The witness corroborated the victim’s account and told investigators she ended her relationship with Jones because of his drug and alcohol problems, detectives said.
They said Jones also sent the victim a threatening text message that read in part, “I’m going to jail for murder and I promise you that ... I’m just have to show you that I am (serious).”
The arrest report notes Jones was also suspected of stabbing the same victim again on June 17 in a separate incident in Miami-Dade.
After weeks of reviewing surveillance video, North Miami Beach police located Jones on Monday at a home near where the alleged stabbing occurred.
After being taken into custody, investigators said he refused to be interviewed and declined to leave his holding cell.
As of Tuesday, Jones was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
