DAVIE, Fla. — More than 700 people gathered Sunday at the David Posnack Jewish Community Center to mark two years since the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel.
Hosted by the Jewish Federation of Broward County and 70 partner organizations, the event honored victims and called for the return of hostages still held in Gaza.
“The fact that they still have people... it’s really terrible,” said attendee Thea Seminoff.
The names of hostages were read aloud, as hope builds for a possible truce. Israel and Hamas are set to begin indirect negotiations in Egypt this week.
“Anything… home is good,” one participant said, reflecting the desire for reunification.
Still, others expressed caution. “Are you hopeful… hostages but… too much,” another said.
Organizers say they hope this chapter of history ends with the hostages coming home.
