MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Three suspects are facing serious charges after authorities say they broke into a woman’s home in Miami-Dade, assaulted her multiple times across locations, and threatened to kill her — all while deputies were nearby investigating another incident next door.
According to an arrest report, the attack happened around 6:45 a.m. on July 16 in a location that was redacted in an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
The suspects, identified by MDSO as Jerry Byron, who turned 38 on Friday, Raydel Sanchez, 37, and Johanna Kuhn, 21, forced their way into the victim’s home by breaking through a back door, according to an arrest report.
Investigators said the victim had initially called deputies after witnessing Byron dragging another woman into a nearby residence.
While deputies were nearby, Byron, Sanchez, and Kuhn burst into her home through the backyard, according to the report.
Once inside, deputies said Sanchez grabbed the woman by her shirt, ripping it, while shouting, “B----, you’re going to let us in here or we’re going to kill you.”
Byron then took the victim’s phone when she tried to call her family for help, according to the report.
After deputies left the area, the confrontation continued in the backyard, where Sanchez reportedly hit the victim with an umbrella and Byron kicked her.
The woman managed to flee in her vehicle, but deputies said Sanchez followed her to another home, where he tried to punch her.
They said when the victim returned home, Sanchez was waiting for her and struck her in the back with a baseball bat. Deputies arrived soon after and took Sanchez into custody.
Kuhn was later identified and detained by deputies. According to investigators, she provided a statement that was redacted after being read her Miranda rights.
All three suspects are facing one count each of burglary with assault or battery, aggravated battery, and strong-arm robbery.
Records show Byron is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Sanchez remains at the Metrowest Detention Center, and Kuhn is at TGK. The bond for both is listed as “to be set.”
