Police: Man arrested for sexually abusing toddler in Miami-Dade

HOMESTEAD, Fla. — A 23-year-old man stands accused of sexually abusing a toddler in Miami-Dade County, records show.

Police officers arrested Brayan Saldarriaga on Wednesday morning in Homestead, according to a police officer’s arrest report.

Inmate records show corrections booked Saldarriaga on Wednesday afternoon at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Court records show prosecutors filed a case against Saldarriaga on Thursday, and he faced a first-degree felony charge of lewd and lascivious conduct involving a victim under 12 years old.

Saldarriaga appeared in bond court on Thursday, and a judge ordered him to stay away from the victim, denied him bond, and granted the prosecution’s request for pre-trial detention.

Saldarriaga, who was born in Colombia and is also known as Brayan Stiven Saldarriaga Cardona, was also behind bars on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold, records show.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Richard Hersch was set to preside over the criminal case.
