MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A carjacking victim told police officers in Hollywood that he believed he was going to “hook up” with Camilla Diaz and give her a ride home in Miami-Dade.
The victim told police that he had known Diaz, 22, since 9th grade, so he agreed to pick her up in Hollywood’s Parkside neighborhood, records show.
Diaz got away during the armed robbery and carjacking on Sept. 18, 2024, near Plunkett Street and South 21 Avenue, according to police.
“The victim said he got out of his vehicle to help Diaz with her belongings,” a Hollywood detective wrote, according to a warrant. “Once he exited the vehicle, he followed Diaz up the stairs and saw two light-skinned males emerge from the bushes with guns, and that was when he realized Diaz had set him up.”
A Broward County judge issued an arrest warrant, and Miami-Dade deputies arrested her on Feb. 5. She was extradited and released on house arrest with a GPS on March 21 -- and was back behind bars on Saturday.
Diaz was arrested for battery after allegedly attacking her mother on Nov. 27 in Miami-Dade’s South Miami Heights area. A judge ordered her to stay away from her mother, so she bonded and vanished, records show.
A Broward judge issued a pre-trial release warrant on Dec. 2 that included a hold without bail bond. Diaz turned 23 on Dec. 18, and deputies arrested her on Dec. 19 in Miami-Dade.
Miami-Dade inmate records show corrections booked Diaz on Friday night at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Diaz appeared in court on Saturday in Miami-Dade County after deputies accused her of violating a domestic violence injunction.
Court records show Diaz’s arraignment on the misdemeanor case is on Jan. 20 in Miami-Dade. She is awaiting extradition to Broward.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Elisabeth Espinosa is presiding over the misdemeanor case. Broward County Circuit Judge Ernest Kollra Jr. is presiding over the felony case.
