Police officers arrest 19-year-old man in Pembroke Pines

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — The Pembroke Pines Police Department used social media on Tuesday to celebrate the drone operators who worked with infrared cameras to help police officers outsmart suspects.

The department also released aerial video showing when Daniel Lopez, 19, ran right into police officers while trying to get away on Jan. 21.

The department also released aerial infrared video of two teens who were arrested after a burglary on Jan. 28 in Pembroke Pines.

Lopez was arrested after a residential and vehicle burglary, and the teens were arrested after a vehicular burglary and possession of burglary tools, according to Amanda Conwell, a spokeswoman for PPPD.

The department also had a message for thieves: “Even when trying to hide in pitch darkness, our drone’s infrared camera can track and locate criminals ... and relay their location.”
