PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — Pembroke Park Police Department officers asked the public on Tuesday to avoid keeping valuables in their cars, as they investigate nine vehicle burglaries.

On Monday, a victim in the Pembroke Villas community chased after a burglar who ran after he found him rummaging through his black Chevrolet Suburban, where he had about $4,000 in cash and a gun, according to police.

The victim reported two burglars got away in the area of Southwest 48 Avenue and 38 Street, according to the Pembroke Park Police Department.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies in a helicopter and patrol cars helped police officers, who reported stopping Harlins Valeur, who was driving a 2014 silver Honda Accord at Southwest 48 Avenue and 38 Street.

Valeur, 25, had a loaded Glock handgun with an extended magazine under the passenger seat and a black ski mask in the driver’s side door compartment, but the Glock wasn’t the stolen gun, according to police.

Corrections booked Valeur on Monday at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, and he remained there on Tuesday afternoon, according to BSO inmate records. Valeur faced an armed burglary charge. His bond was $3,500.

Detectives asked anyone with information about the car burglaries in Pembroke Park to call 954-374-8639 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous.
