Broward County Animal Care makes urgent call to find dogs homes: Meet ‘Valiente’

'Valiente' is up for adoption in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The Broward County Animal Care in Fort Lauderdale is asking the public to help save the lives of several dogs before Feb. 10.

Doug Brightwell, the director of the BCAC, said even a short-term foster can make a difference since the kennel environment is taking a toll on the dogs.

Brightline said “Valiente” is about 2 years old, came in as a stray from Pembroke Pines, and is good with other dogs and people outside the kennel.

“He is very stressed and anxious in the kennel, and he gets pretty cage aggressive at the door, so he poses some stress to himself and the folks trying to come in to see him, so we really want to get him out into a foster or into an adopted home,” Brightwell said.

“Valiente” loves belly rubs, and he is very treat-motivated, which means he redirects and corrects very easily, Brightwell said.

“He is just a really nice dog, but this environment is just really very stressful and very hard on him,” Brightwell said.
