Why is this happening?
After nearly 69 years, WPLG-TV and the ABC television network are parting ways.
After months of negotiations between the Berkshire Hathaway-owned television station and the network, the two parties could not reach an agreement to extend the affiliation agreement. Despite a generous offer to ABC from WPLG, ABC will pull its programming effective Aug. 4. Click here for more information.
Because of this, WPLG is being forced to change the frequency it transmits on and terminate Nextgen TV services to create space for another station to carry ABC programming.
To make the transition somewhat easier and less confusing for our viewers, WPLG decided to break the transition into two pieces.
The first piece will be to move our over-the-air transmission from one frequency to another on July 28.
Over-the-air viewers will need to rescan (see below for more information on that). Once that is done, WPLG, Channel 10, will continue to show up as Channel 10.1 along with MeTv as 10.2 and H&I as 10.3.
The second piece will be to remove ABC programming and replace it with thoughtful hyper-local programming on Aug. 4.
Also on Aug. 4, because WPLG will no longer be carrying ABC programming, several streaming services will stop streaming WPLG.
There’s more information below on which streaming services will be impacted and different ways to stream WPLG for free.
Do I need to rescan my TV?
If you use an antenna to receive Local 10, you will have to rescan your TV on July 28. If you receive Local 10 any other way, you will not need to rescan.
How do I rescan my TV?
1. Select Channels, Scan or Autotune from your TV or converter box setup menu to start the scanning process.
2. Your TV will do the rest. This process usually takes a few minutes to complete.
Once your rescan is complete, you will still find WPLG-TV on the same channel number as before.
If you have rescanning difficulties, you can usually find instructions by selecting the “Set-Up” or “Menu” button on your television or converter box remote control.
You can also consult the TV or converter box owner’s manual for detailed instructions on how to run a channel scan, or contact customer service for your TV or converter box manufacturer.
Click here for more information on rescanning.
Will Local 10 retain the same anchors and reporters?
Yes! You will still see the same familiar faces on Local 10, but we are adding even more talent to our team who are excited to keep you informed on the latest news across the world, nationally and locally.
Local 10 is not downsizing, but rather expanding in local news and other local programming.
Will Local 10 still air “Wheel of Fortune,” “Jeopardy!” and “LIVE with Kelly and Mark?”
Yes, you will still be able to watch all three shows weekly on Local 10.
Will Local 10 be available on streaming services?
Local 10 will no longer be available on Hulu Live, Fubo and YouTube TV, after Aug. 4. However you can still stream Local 10 directly on Local10.com or on the Local 10+ app.
If you would still prefer to stream Local 10 on any of those three platforms, you can voice your stance by reaching out to them directly.

Are MeTV and Heroes & Icons going away?
No, the MeTV and H&I television networks will continue to be broadcast on Local 10.
ATSC 3.0 viewers: How to keep watching
Unfortunately, WPLG is being forced to shut down its ATSC 3.0 or Nextgen TV services on July 28.
But, the good news is we will continue to broadcast in ATSC 1.0 and most TV’s and receivers that receive ATSC 3.0 are backwards compatible. They will receive the ATSC 1.0 format we are moving back to.
All you will have to do is rescan your TV after July 28 at 10a.m. (You can find more information on how to rescan by scrolling up on this page.)
