The NBA player was not named in the indictment. At one point, in a conference call with the New York-based lending company, another participant in the scheme impersonated the NBA player to help with the loan application, the indictment says. The wire fraud charge carries a punishment of up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, the US attorney's office said. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 4, 2020, the US attorney's office said.

For two years, the fatal accident rate among general aviation was below 1.0 per 100,000 flight hours. The NTSB did not provide reasons for the increase in aviation fatalities, but has issued recommendations for improving safety aboard general aviation and Part 135 operations.

Cigarettes were the most common at 13.7%, followed by cigars, cigarillos and little filtered cigars, which were used by 3.9% of adults. E-cigarettes were the third most common tobacco product used by adults, at 3.2%.

Moreno in Miami on Wednesday sentenced Kapri to 46 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. The Florida rapper was arrested in May at the Rolling Loud hip-hop festival in Miami on state and federal weapons charges, right before he was to perform. Kapri has been held in custody at a federal detention center in Miami since that arrest, says CNN affiliate WFOR. In April, he was arrested on gun and drug charges near Niagara Falls, New York, while trying to enter the US from Canada.

"In particular, sluggish growth abroad and trade developments have weighed on the economy and pose ongoing risks," Powell said in prepared remarks for testimony before the Joint Economic Committee. Last month, the Fed cut rates for the third time this year, to a range of 1.5% and 1.75%. Powell said the series of rate cuts have helped to keep the US economy and inflation nearing its target of 2% the level the central bank considers healthy. In his remarks, he underscored his message at a press conference following last month's policy-setting meeting, pointing to persistent trade tensions and slowing global growth as a rationale for recent rate cuts.

(CNN) - The top US diplomat in Ukraine told Congress that it was his "clear understanding" that US security aid to Ukraine wouldn't happen unless the country's president announced he would investigate President Donald Trump's political rivals, according to a transcript of Ambassador Bill Taylor's deposition released Wednesday. In his 15-page opening statement, Taylor explained how he was told that "everything" Ukraine wanted was conditioned on the investigation. He gave a damning account of how Trump told his appointees to establish a quid pro quo with Ukraine, trading much-needed US military assistance for political favors from Zelensky. In the wake of that testimony, Trump accused Taylor of being a "Never Trumper." In text messages to Sondland, Taylor said it would be "crazy" to withhold military aid in exchange for political help from Ukraine, suggesting a potential quid pro quo.

The crew aboard the C-130 plane said the airman hit the water and was treading water, but when they turned back around to find him, they couldn't see him, Lee said. (CNN) - The Federal Reserve cut interest rates for the third time this year as the US economy continued slowing amid ongoing trade disputes and weak global growth. The federal funds rate, which affects the cost of mortgages, credit cards and other borrowing, will now hover between 1.5% and 1.75%. It isn't clear whether the move will be enough to head off another rate cut in December, the final meeting of the year. But with stock futures pointing at a higher open in New York, the wait for a new record could be over on Monday. S&P 500 stocks have risen 0.54% on average on Oct. 28 between 1950 and 2018. Still, the index was some 1.5% below its July record high at Friday's close.

CNN(CNN) - Lyft announced a new initiative that will give riders free or discounted rides to work and during the first three weeks of employment. The Jobs Access Program looks to close the transportation gap in low-income communities, Lyft said in a statement. The rideshare company is partnering with national and local organizations -- including the National Down Syndrome Society and United Way -- to offer the program in over 35 markets in the US and Canada. The rideshare company cited a 2018 Oxford University Press study that said "children's opportunities for economic mobility are shaped by the neighborhoods in which they grow up." The company also cited their own study that shows "44% of Lyft rides start or end in low-income areas."

Google Maps(CNN) - At least two people have died in Baja California after deadly wildfires ravaged cities on the US and Mexico border. The fire victims were two females, aged 15 and 19, Mexico's Director of Civil Protection for the state of Baja California, Antonio Rosquillas, told CNN. Dozens of wildfires have been raging in northern Baja California, including in Tecate, Ensenada, and Playas de Rosarito. The Santa Ana winds and the dry conditions are helping to spread the blazes, which Rosquillas is calling the "strongest fires in the history of Baja California." Mexican officials confirmed the fire has ravaged 125 homes, with 30 of those in the northern city of Tijuana.

William Walker via CNN(CNN) - Ford, which is likely the next US automaker to face negotiations with the United Auto Workers union, reported strong earnings Wednesday. Shares of Ford fell more than 2% in after-hours trading on the lowered guidance. But for the just completed third quarter, the company reported adjusted earnings of $1.4 billion, up $182 million from a year earlier. The strong earnings came despite a modest 2% decline in sales revenue in the quarter. Ford is expected to be the focus of negotiations with the union once the strike at GM ends.

CHICAGO - US stocks closed higher Monday, but the rally would have been even stronger if it hadn't been for Boeing, whose falling shares held back the Dow. Boeing shares closed down nearly 4%, which translates into a nearly 13 point drag on the Dow. While the troubled company wasn't the only Dow stock in the red, it weighed on the index the most heavily. After those reports surfaced, Boeing stock dragged the Dow lower, and the index closed down more than 250 points.

The soldiers were in riding in a Bradley Fighting Vehicle at Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield when the accident happened. Three soldiers were pronounced dead on site and three others were taken to Winn Army Community Hospital for their injuries. The accident is under investigation, and the soldiers' names will be released 24 hours after their next-of-kin are notified, Fort Stewart said in a statement. Fort Stewart, founded in 1940, is the largest Army installation east of the Mississippi River and covers almost 280,000 acres, according to its website.

"I don't know where we could live in Africa at the moment," Harry told reporter Tom Bradby in the short snippet of the documentary. A royal source told CNN there were no firm plans yet and so could not confirm the length of time the couple would take away from the public eye. Meghan is suing British newspaper Mail on Sunday for publishing a selectively edited version version of a private letter Meghan sent to her father. In the documentary, "Harry & Meghan: An African Journey," Harry also says every camera flash takes him "straight back" to the death of his mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997 when her car crashed as it was being chased by a paparazzo on a motorbike.
