August 24: Wet afternoon should give way to calmer evening

A stalled front sitting across northern Florida continues to keep our afternoon rain chances elevated with hit or miss storms that should fade in the early evening. By Monday morning, low temperatures will be in upper 70s for inland areas to around 80 degrees closer to the coast.

Monday’s forecast looks similar to what we’ve seen over the weekend, with a mix of sun and clouds in the morning followed by scattered thunderstorms. Lighter westerly winds should allow a sea breeze to form in the afternoon, so thunderstorm activity will likely peak again from mid-afternoon to the early evening. Rain chances will be around 40%-50%. Areas north of Alligator Alley are more likely to see wet weather compared to those farther south. Highs temperatures will generally be in the low-to-mid 90s, with heat index values or “feels like” temperatures topping 100°F at times.
