PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — Some of the coldest air of the season will settle on Tuesday night in South Florida.
This chill is courtesy of a cold front that moved across the state on Tuesday morning.
By Wednesday morning, lows will be in the higher 40s, but with the Arctic wind, it will feel like the lower 40s.
On New Year’s Eve, the highs will reach the upper 60s, and by evening, the temperatures will range from the 50s to the 60s. It will be about 46 degrees on New Year’s Day morning.
The temperatures will be low enough to immobilize iguanas, which will then be at risk of falling from trees while they temporarily freeze.

Here is a list of tips on how to dress to feel warm in the 40s and 50s:
- Dress in layers
- Use thermal underwear as a base layer if you plan to be at sea or working outdoors
- Wear a sweater for insulation and a jacket for protection
- Consider using accessories such as a hat or a beanie
- Wear thicker socks than usual
- Carry gloves and a scarf in case it gets colder
