Jan. 18: Cold front brings sharp cooldown to South Florida on MLK Day

After a near-record warm afternoon, a cold front is on the move and is set to drop temperatures in a big way. Miami reached 82 degrees Sunday afternoon, and the region will kick off Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day with temperatures in the upper 40s and 50s.

With winds moving out of the northwest at 5 to 10 mph, it will feel like the mid- to lower 40s. Be sure to dress in layers if you are heading out to any parades around South Florida. Winds out of the north throughout the day will keep temperatures down; highs are expected to reach the upper 60s.

It will be a bit chilly outside at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens as well. Evening temperatures will range from the low to mid-60s. If you are tailgating and heading to the game, you will be comfortable in light layers.

Nonetheless, this chill will be short-lived. Expect highs to rebound into the lower 70s by Tuesday afternoon.
