South Florida is about to feel more like the Midwest this weekend, and Local 10 News wants to see how you’re experiencing the chill.
Conditions take a sharp turn on Saturday as a strong cold front pushes through late in the day. Winds are expected to ramp up to 15 to 25 mph, with gusts near 40 mph possible, setting the stage for a dramatic temperature drop across the region.
Behind the front, the coldest air of the season — and potentially the coldest since December 2010 — arrives early Sunday. Temperatures will fall quickly overnight, with near-freezing or freezing lows possible early Sunday and again Monday morning. Forecasters say those cold readings could even reach inland areas of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
Adding to the bite, strong northwest winds could drive wind chills into the 20s across all of South Florida, including the Florida Keys. Daytime temperatures on Sunday and Monday may struggle to climb out of the 50s, making it feel unusually cold from morning through evening.
With South Floridians breaking out the coats, scarves, space heaters and maybe even the rare winter hat, Local 10 News is asking viewers to share their cold-weather moments. Whether it’s frost on the windshield, bundled-up pets, layered outfits or thermometers showing shocking lows, we want to see how you’re weathering the cold snap.
