Miami police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Brent Williams.

According to an arrest report, Williams was armed with a stolen gun when he allegedly threatened strangers at random at a park near Northeast Eighth Street and Northeast Second Avenue around 9 a.m.

The report states that Williams even told one woman she was going to die.

A man walking his dog at the park, Jens Klapatsch, told Local 10’s Bridgette Matter that he heard gunfire before realizing someone was approaching with a weapon.

“I could hear two gunshots,” Klapatsch said. “I saw some guy walking really fast towards me and then I saw he has a gun.”

Klapatsch took cellphone video of Williams while hiding behind a bench and calling 911.

“He yelled at me, ‘armed and dangerous, armed and dangerous,’” Klapatsch added. “He was talking to himself.”

Officers quickly responded and arrested Williams near Biscayne Boulevard.

“Basically there they already had him in custody super fast,” Klapatsch said.

Police say Williams is a convicted felon who currently lives in a building near the park. They said the gun he was carrying was reported stolen out of Miami Gardens.

Jail records show he is facing one count each of aggravated assault, illegal use of a firearm while committing a felony, third-degree grand theft with a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public place or residential property.

As of Tuesday night, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”

Authorities have not released a motive as to why the suspect was pointing a gun at people.

Williams is expected to appear in bond court on Wednesday morning.
