NORTH MIAMI, Fla. — The Jewish Community Services of South Florida announced on Wednesday that there was a relief effort to deal with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program’s shutdown.
The nonprofit organization based in North Miami estimated that more than 1,400 “JCS clients” in South Florida, some of whom include Holocaust survivors, will be losing about $176 monthly.
JCS has also been providing temporary aid to workers with the Transportation Security Administration and Customs and Border Protection at Miami International Airport.
The next distribution will be from 12 to 4 p.m. on Thursday.
JCS already maintains five dining meal sites, a meal delivery service for homebound seniors, and the Kosher Food Bank, as part of the organization’s food and nutrition programs.
