PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. — The 12th annual Local 10 Day of Giving collected 16,440 pounds of food and $17,512.59 for nonprofit organizations helping people in need in South Florida.
It is the most collected in a single day since the Day of Giving effort started in 2014, and it surpassed last year’s collection by 1,180 pounds.
This year’s the Local 10 Day of Giving benefited Curley’s House, Harvest Drive, Joshua’s Heart, Make-A-Wish Veterans, Manna-Share-A Meal, Star-of-the-Sea Foundation, and The Caring Place.
Teams of Local 10 News anchors and reporters and the nonprofits’ volunteers accepted donations at six Publix stores in South Florida.
In Miami-Dade, the teams were at the store at 9105 South Dadeland Boulevard in Kendall and the store at 9050 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami Shores.
In Broward, the teams were at the store at 1003 East Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park, the store at 1700 Sheridan St. in Hollywood, and the store at 15729 Pines Boulevard in Pembroke Pines.
And in Monroe County, there was a team at 101499 Overseas Highway in Key Largo. There was also generosity on the Local 10 Fund with The Miami Foundation.
