CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Bill Corben will be showing his “Canceled: The Paula Deen” during The Miami Film Festival’s Gems, which will be playing 42 films from Oct. 29 to Nov. 5.
The Miami-based film director’s new film focuses on the dramatic rise and downfall of the Southern chef after she admitted to using a racial slur.
“We’ve made documentaries about notorious drug smugglers, about confessed murderers, about corrupt politicians -- I never thought that Paula Deen would be the most controversial topic,” Corben said.
The film, which has only been shown in Canada, is playing at 7:45 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Coral Gables Art Cinema at 260 Aragon Ave. For more information and to book tickets, visit this page.
