SOUTH BEACH, Fla. — Miami Beach has been celebrating PRIDE for 18 years, but Nicole Moudaber said she has been partying with the LGBTQ community for a lot longer.
The world-famous DJ born in Nigeria promoted dance parties in the 1990s in Beirut, Lebanon, and techno took her to London, where she gained notoriety.
“It’s amazing being part of this community that I supported from the beginning, and that’s where I discovered myself on the dance floor,” Moudaber said. “It was at gay parties in New York.”
The celebrity is the Ambassador of the Association For Electronic Music, the host of The Mood Radio, and a Lower Eastside Girls Club advocate in New York.
Miami Beach officials displayed a rainbow crosswalks and launched PRIDE with a ceremony on Friday. Moudaber will be celebrating at M2 in South Beach.
“We have to be strong. We have to stick together, and this is what our community is all about, standing our grounds, and sticking together, and fight, fight, all the time, and we will always prevail,” Moudaber said.
