Live and dead rodents found! 14 South Florida restaurant kitchens ordered shut last week

Fourteen South Florida restaurants were ordered shut last week by state inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, five of which were dealing with rodent problems.

Berries in Coconut Grove was cited for droppings throughout a dry storage area, while La Fourchette in Miami had a live mouse inside an oven and another in a wall, along with widespread droppings.

Wonder Wok Chinese Restaurant and Bruno’s Bakery in Miami Gardens were both closed after inspectors found extensive rodent droppings near food and storage areas.

At 1804 Bread in Miami, inspectors discovered two dead rodents in a glue trap along with dozens of droppings and live roaches.

Brandon Asian Cuisine in Davie was also cited after inspectors found live roaches and rodents in food prep and storage areas. Other restaurants, including Naked Taco, Denny’s, McDonald’s, Cacique Lunch, Monserrate Restaurante, McSorley’s Beach Pub, and Rocca Trattoria Italian, were closed for violations ranging from live roaches and flies to moldy ice machines, dirty kitchens, and food stored at unsafe temperatures.

All the places mentioned were allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and then a re-inspection.
