MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — A dog mauled a woman to death on Monday morning in Miami Gardens, police said.
Police officers found the woman shortly after 7:35 a.m., along Northwest 196 Terrace, and Miami-Dade Rescue personnel pronounced her dead, according to Diana Delgado, a spokeswoman for the Miami Gardens Police Department.
Animal services personnel also responded and were going door to door swabbing dogs to identify the culprit.
“There are some stray dogs running around,” Hermsteem Brooks, who lives in the neighborhood near a fenced elementary school and a YMCA center.
Ken Nedd, who lives in the neighborhood, said he has been afraid of stray dogs there before.
“I have had some experiences a few times, even from the yard,” Nedd said.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
