OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — A loyal dog helped deputies find an elderly woman in the Shalimar area after she went missing while walking him, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they received a call from a distraught husband who told them his wife had taken their dog for a walk but had been gone for more than an hour — far longer than usual.
The man said the dog weighed about 100 pounds.
When a deputy arrived at the scene, the dog — named Eeyore — ran up to the patrol car.
“I said, ‘Bring me to your mommy,’ and he ran back here,” the deputy said in the body camera video.
Eeyore then led the deputy to a nearby golf course, where they found the woman lying on a sidewalk after an apparent fall.
“He wouldn’t leave. He kept coming back to me,” the woman said about the loyal dog who kept checking on her before seeking help.
The bodycam video, which was released by OCSO on Monday, captures the emotional moment as deputies comforted both the woman and her devoted companion.
“You’re such a good boy! Grandma loves you,” the woman is heard saying in the video.
