MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 49-year-old man accused of assaulting a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office public service aide who had responded to a crash he was involved in while driving under the influence appeared in court on Monday.
Miami-Dade correctional deputies booked Christian Argueta shortly after 8:45 a.m. on Sunday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after deputies arrested him at 8035 SW 107 Ave. in Kendall.
Argueta was driving a white Toyota Camry when he was involved in a car crash and met a M-DSO public service aid who responded as a traffic accident investigator, according to a deputy’s arrest report.
The investigator “could smell alcohol on his breath and tell he was intoxicated” when he “started a heated verbal dispute,” “balled up his fists,” and “took a fighting stance,” according to the arrest report.
A deputy reported Argueta emitted “a strong odor of alcohol” from his mouth when he talked, slurred his speech, “did not walk in a straight line,” and “lost his balance,” according to the arrest report.
Argueta faced a charge of aggravated assault on a specified official employee. He also had cases for driving under the influence, DUI or DWI, or testing or a second subsequent refusal, and failure to notify DHSMV of a motor vehicle registration change.
