MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Dade County Federal Credit Union employees turned a Thanksgiving event into a celebration on Tuesday in Miami Gardens.
Mary Cooper was among the drivers who waited for hours along U.S. 441 to receive the gift of a turkey, and she said it was worth it.
“I’m retired, this helps me a lot,” said Cooper, who went home with a 10-12 pound frozen turkey for her family’s celebration.
Michelle Sampson, a rent operations manager at the credit union, said she was grateful to be a part of the events in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
“We get around 700 turkeys every year, and we go and distribute them,” Sampson said.
There will be an event at 1 p.m. at the credit union’s branch in Homestead and at 2:30 p.m. at the Royal Palms Elementary School in Lauderhill.
