MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — At 108, Lyle Gittens still remembers meeting the love of his life in 1941 at Clark Atlanta.
“Something hit me,” Gittens said. “You don’t want to lose this girl at that point!”
Eleanor and Lyle Gittens have been married for 83 years, and they said they still like each other.
“You have to like the person,” Eleanor Gittens, who is 107, said. “Loving is also important, but liking is very important.”
Lyle Gittens said the key to a happy marriage is to “get used to the baggage every person brings.”
