Man faces attempted murder charge after shooting in Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 22-year-old man faced charges after an attempted murder in Miami-Dade County’s West Little River neighborhood, records show.

The victim told deputies that he was riding a scooter home when a black Nissan Altima started to follow him on Oct. 11 in West Little River, records show.

The victim “threw a rock” at the Nissan Altima’s front windshield, according to Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies’ arrest report.

Keyon Curington, a passenger in the Nissan Altima, shot at the victim in the area of Northwest 86 Terrace and 23 Avenue, according to the arrest report.

On Nov. 27, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Curington, and corrections booked him at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Curington faced charges of second-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon, throwing a deadly missile, and evidence tampering, records show.

On Nov. 28, Curington appeared in bond court, and a judge ordered him to stay away from the victim and denied him bond on the attempted murder charge.

According to court records, Curington’s pre-trial detention hearing is at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, and his arraignment hearing is at 9 a.m. on Dec. 29.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Lody Jean was set to preside over the case.
