MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Miami Beach officials honored businessman Norman Braman with a street naming on Monday.
Miami Beach’s new Norman Braman Way runs on 17th Street between Washington Avenue and Alton Road.
“I have five great granddaughters, and they’ll grow up, they’ll walk here, and they’ll see that sign, and they’ll probably say to everyone, ‘That’s my great grandfather!’ And that means everything to me,” Braman said. “I am 93, going onto my 94th birthday soon, to have this occur is so meaningful.”
Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner described Braman’s contributions to the city as exceptional.
Braman stood behind Art Basel, the city’s Holocaust Memorial, and the Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is set to open next year at the Mount Sinai Medical Center.
“Few individuals have shaped our region with such a commitment to the public good,” said Miami Beach Commissioner Alex J. Fernandez, who championed the street naming. “It is a privilege for our city to recognize his legacy with this street naming, a testament to a lifetime of service that continues to inspire us all.”
