LAUDERHILL, Fla. — Surveillance video shows a thief walking into a house on Sunday in Southwest Ranches.

Detectives believe the man walked into a bedroom, opened a closet, and a drawer to steal jewelry valued at about $30,000.

Miguel Mourino, the homeowner, said the thief pretended to be interested in buying the property, which is listed for sale.

There was supposed to be an open house on Sunday, but it was cancelled. The man was there to steal a Cartier jewelry, a watch, diamond earrings, and a necklace.

Mourino had questions for the thief: “How could you do this to a family? Why would you do something like this?”
