KEY LARGO, Fla. — A federal immigration agent from Miami is facing DUI and child endangerment charges after deputies say he was driving drunk with his two children in the car.
Monroe County deputies stopped 42-year-old Scott Deiseroth on Aug. 13 after reports of reckless driving in Key Largo.
Body camera footage shows Deiseroth identifying himself as a Department of Homeland Security employee, but he did not have ID.
Deputies said he smelled of alcohol, appeared disoriented, and was about 100 miles from where he thought he was.
He became combative during sobriety tests and asked a deputy if he was Haitian, which the deputy dismissed as irrelevant.
Deiseroth was arrested after failing the tests. His children were turned over to their mother. ICE has not fired Deiseroth but said he is expected to undergo alcohol treatment.
