HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance videos showing a public school employee abusing a student for months.
Deputies identified the victim as a 10-year-old boy who was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD and is a special education student at Caminiti Exceptional School.
Deputies identified the boy’s attacker as Juanita Wright and listed incidents of child abuse in October, November, and December.
“This case goes far beyond abuse. It reveals a level of cruelty that is deeply disturbing,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement.
Deputies arrested Wright, 79, and Tonya Rice-Constant, a Hillsborough County Public Schools bus driver who failed to report the abuse, on Jan. 26.
Wright faced 14 counts of child abuse charges. Rice-Constant faced a charge of failure to report child abuse.
