NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Surveillance video shows the bar fight that ended with the arrest of Volusia Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jason Stickels in New Smyrna Beach, according to police.
Police officers arrested Stickels, 44, on Monday afternoon at Merk’s Bar & Grill, according to the New Smyrna Beach Police Department.
Stickels “battered” a 71-year-old woman and her 77-year-old husband before a witness “subdued” him, according to police.
Stickels, who joined VSO in 2004, was placed on administrative leave after his arrest, the sheriff’s office confirmed. He faces two counts of felony battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
