Investigation into Miami police-involved shooting continues

MIAMI, Fla. – A family said a man who was recently shot by Miami police was armed because he was scared about a commotion going on outside of his home. He remained hospitalized on Friday.

Officers were outside of the man’s home on Thursday morning in the area of Southwest 38th Avenue and 29th Street when the police shooting happened, according to Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina.

Witnesses told police officers a driver had crashed into a tree. After a police officer shot the armed man, Miami Fire Rescue personnel took him to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Colina said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the police shooting.
