The incident unfolded in the area of Northwest 104th Street and Fifth Avenue.

“It sounded like very loud popping noises,” Jonathan Jimenez, who lives next door to where the fire occurred, said. “I’m guessing that’s just all the windows and whatever kind of metal and debris coming off the car as it caught fire and flew away, but it sounded like it was hitting against a bunch of other cars too so my dad came outside first to make sure his car was OK, and it was, but the tree almost caught fire.”

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene Tuesday morning as a white Ford SUV and a gray Mercedes-Benz sedan that were heavily burned were towed away.

Jimenez said part of a nearby pickup truck was also melted by the flames.

Police officers at the scene said they knocked on the door of the home that the vehicles were parked outside of but no one was home.

Miami-Dade police said the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
