Miami police seek person of interest in slaying of homeless man

MIAMI – Miami police released images and video of a person of interest captured on surveillance footage near the scene of a fatal shooting in the city’s Allapattah neighborhood Friday evening.

Officers responded at about 6 p.m. to the area of Northwest Seventh Avenue and 36th Street and found a homeless man shot to death, Officer Kiara Delva, a Miami Police Department spokesperson, said Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting took place near Miami Fire Station 6.

Police later identified the victim as Charles Herman Cole, who had turned 68 just two days before his death.

Delva described the person of interest as a Black male, possibly between 19 and 29 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10, with a thin build and short dreadlocks.

The suspect was seen in the surveillance footage wearing a black Puma shirt, blue jeans and black and white sneakers.
