1 killed, 1 injured in shooting at Davie mobile home park

30-year-old suspect taken into custody

DAVIE, Fla. – A double shooting in Davie turned deadly over the weekend, and one person has been taken into custody, authorities confirmed.

The domestic-related shooting happened at the Driftwood Acres mobile home park off Griffin Road around 8 p.m. Sunday.

“I heard the shots,” neighbor Todd Yennard said. “It was just a mad house. Nobody could go in or out.”

Yennard took video of the scene with his drone camera.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene as more than a dozen police vehicles were in the area.

Our crew spotted a body on a porch that was covered by a tarp and police were seen taking photos of a front lawn.

Police confirmed one of the victims died from their injuries. The other victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.

According to authorities, Luis Manuel Rodriguez, 30, of Miami, has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Police later confirmed that the shooting was the result of a dispute between family members.

“No family should suffer the loss of a loved one due to incidents of domestic violence,” the Davie Police Department said in a statement. “We encourage those who may be experiencing signs of domestic violence to contact local resources such as the Police Department so that we can offer our assistance.”

No other details were immediately released.
