MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday morning in Miami Gardens.
The crash was reported in the area of Northwest 27th Avenue, just north of 207th Street.
A Local 10 News crew was at the scene as one of the vehicles was rolled onto its side and a blue car had significant front-end damage.
According to Miami Gardens police spokeswoman Diana Delgado-Gourgue, a blue Subaru was heading north on Northwest 27th Avenue at a high rate of speed and collided with a white transport van, causing it to rollover.
She said the driver and passenger of the van had to be extracted from the vehicle by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
According to authorities, the driver was transported to a local hospital and the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic was closed in both directions after the crash.
It’s unclear whether the driver of the Subaru will be cited or charged in the crash.
