MDCPS: Thomas Jefferson Middle School on ‘code yellow’ lockdown as a precaution

Miami-Dade County – Police are searching for a suspect that left one man hurt from a drive-by shooting Thursday in northwest Miami-Dade County.

According to Miami-Dade police it happened just after 2:00 p.m. near the 500 Block of South Biscayne River Drive in the Golden Glades area.

Authorities said upon arrival, police and Miami-Dade Fire rescue discovered a man with a gunshot wound who crashed a vehicle into a fence at a home on the block.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools placed Thomas Jefferson Middle School on a “code yellow” lockdown as a precaution due to the police activity.

Police said the man was transported to Aventura Hospital.

I heard 6 or 7 shots and the car sped off and the black guy got shot 4 times,” one woman told Local 10 News

Miami-Dade police said the suspect is still at large.

Detectives have not identified the victim or elaborated on his condition.
