Officer hit by car door after making DUI stop in Lauderhill

LAUDERHILL, Fla. ā€“ A Lauderhill police officer was injured after a DUI traffic stop went wrong.

It happened Saturday night at approximately 8 p.m. along the 5500 block of Northwest 44th Street in Lauderhill.

According to police, the driver opened her door when the officer approached but then tried to drive away, crashing into a fence.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Crystalee Tennant-Parnther, then backed up the car, striking the officer with the open door, before trying to speed away, police said.

Tennant-Parnther ended up crashing into a tree a short distance away, which caused her car to roll over.

The officer suffered injuries to his leg.

Both the officer and the driver were transported to the hospital.

After being medically cleared, Tennant-Pranther was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on multiple charges, including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing with disregard to persons or property and driving with an expired license.
