Police search for suspect who stole 2 family parrots from Miami-Dade nursery

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities are searching for a bird thief in southwest Miami-Dade County.

Surveillance video captured a man stealing two parrots from their cages and stuffing them into a small bag before running off.

The theft happened earlier this month at the Galloway Farm Nursery along Southwest 87th Avenue and 78th Street.

The Amazonian parrots weren’t for sale, but were personal pets and part of the family farm for 12 years.

“What’s disturbing is the way they reached in,” said Galloway Farm Nursery owner Patricia Kyle.

The owner is offering a $300 reward for each the birds’ safe return.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
