Upon their arrival, police said they found a man lying on the pavement in front of the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and lower extremities.

Authorities began resuscitative efforts and requested Miami Fire Rescue to respond to the shooting, according to the report.

Police said they spoke with a woman, later identified as Kevhani Camilla Hicks, 27, who was standing a few yards from the victim when officers arrived.

Authorities said both Hicks and the victim were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center following the incident.

Police said shortly after arriving at the hospital, the victim was pronounced dead. Hicks, meanwhile, was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries of blunt force trauma.

The Miami Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit reviewed surveillance video from a nearby home in the area.

Police said Hicks was seen arriving to the home in a white Lexus sedan. She then got out of the passenger side of the vehicle and walked towards the trunk of the car.

Shortly after, the driver of the car was seen exiting the vehicle and walking towards Hicks when an argument ensued between the two.

The driver was seen on surveillance video making several hand gestures towards Hicks before throwing her on the ground.

Police said other surveillance video that was obtained by detectives shows the alleged victim initiated the physical altercation.

During the altercation, the man brought Hicks to the ground, got on top of her and began striking her and attempted to kick her, according to investigators.

As Hicks went to grab her belongings, the man continued to push her and threw her belongings in the street, authorities said.

According to the report, Hicks was seen in the video being shoved again by the man and then walking away as he appeared to follow her.

Police said both the victim and Hicks then began to run along Northwest Second Avenue.

Moments after, Hicks was seen pulling out a gun and firing shots at the victim, police said.

Authorities said the victim was then seen running along the sidewalk of Northwest Second Avenue before he collapsed. He then began to crawl in between two nearby vehicles before police arrived.

Hicks was arrested around 4:45 p.m. Monday and was transported to the Miami Police Department’s homicide office for further questioning,

After waiving her Miranda rights, Hicks was presented with the video surveillance footage and told police that she was “in fear for her life” as the events unfolded, authorities said.

According to jail records, Hicks is facing a charge of second-degree murder with a weapon.

Authorities did not reveal the relationship between Hicks and the victim in her arrest report, nor has the victim been identified by police.

As of Tuesday, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
