PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — New cellphone video shows the moment a Pembroke Pines townhouse home erupted in flames Thursday morning.
Fire rescue personnel told Local 10 News that one person lived in the unit with her dog, and both were not injured after the incident occurred, but now she is without a home just days before Christmas.
The video was captured by a neighbor who said she was sitting by her window when she spotted the fire busting through the windows of the home located in the 14,000 block of Southwest 15th Street.
Neighbors say the homeowner was out walking her dog when the massive fire erupted.
“Smoke was billowing out of her stairway and everything,” said Lisa Fox, who lives in the unit just beneath where the fire broke out.
Sky 10 flew over the scene where first responders were working to put those flames out.
A Local 10 News Crew was at the townhome for the aftermath of the fire where the top floor appeared to be gutted and had multiple structural beams exposed.
The mosquito screen of a balcony was damaged and black ash stained the walls of the townhouse on Sabal Palm Drive.
According to Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue, the fire was contaminated to the bedroom and patio area.
“It was horrible,” said Adriana Manzato, who lives nearby. “I’ve never seen such a thing so close. It was scary and sad.”
Authorities said the homeowner is staying with family and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
