FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A woman reported she was on Facetime with her friends when she heard a “click” and discovered that someone had taken control of a camera that she had in her bedroom in Broward County.

The camera was facing her bed. A detective in North Lauderdale recently identified the intruder as Maury Rodriguez, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Rodriguez, 40, used tape to cover the Kasa video camera’s “ON” light, installed a small removable memory card to store data and he also accessed the camera’s app to spy on the woman, according to BSO.

Deputies arrested Rodriguez shortly before 8:35 p.m., on Sunday, and booked him at the Broward County main jail in Fort Lauderdale, records show.

Rodriguez is facing a charge of video voyeurism.

Detectives were asking anyone with information about the case to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
