1 killed, 2 injured in shooting at Miami apartment building

MIAMI – A man was killed Thursday morning in a shooting at an apartment building in Miami, and two others were injured, authorities confirmed.

The shooting was reported at 6:23 a.m. at 4271 NW S. Tamiami Canal Dr.

“My friend called me this morning, said there was a body outside of her room,” one man told Local 10′s Annaliese Garcia.

Miami police Officer Kiara Delva, who is a spokeswoman for the police department, said officers arrived at the scene and found one person who had been shot.

“Once officers arrived on scene, they did locate an adult Hispanic male suffering from gunshot wounds,” she said.

Delva said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed that another man and a woman were injured in the shooting and drove themselves to Coral Gables Hospital. They were then transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Their conditions have not yet been released.

“Preliminary information does, in fact, reveal that this shooting may have happened in the rear parking lot of the location,” Delva said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with further information is asked to call the Miami Police Department or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
