‘No further questions’: Fake cop said he wanted real police to do their job

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A South Florida man walked out of jail on Wednesday night, accused of impersonating a police officer and calling the cops on himself.

That man, 29-year-old Davonte Thompson, told Local 10 News’ Christian De La Rosa that he suffers from trauma.

“I got in an accident a long time ago,” Thompson said.

That is why he claims on Tuesday, just outside a TD Bank located at 7999 Pines Boulevard, he decided to pull over a driver while claiming he was a police officer.

“Did you tell them you were a cop?” asked De La Rosa.

“No further questions,” replied Thompson.

“Are you denying that you told this driver that you were a cop?” De La Rosa followed up.

“I’m not denying,” Thompson said.

Police said Thompson called 911 after pulling over the car, telling the operator he just pulled over a reckless driver.

“I just wanted them to do their job and get them off the street,” Thompson said.

When the real police arrived, detectives said Thompson also had a stolen police badge that belonged to a retired deputy from the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana.

“Did you have a stolen badge from Louisiana?” asked De La Rosa.

“No further questions,” responded Thompson.

“But you’re not a cop,” said De La Rosa.

“Obviously not,” replied Thompson.

Thompson was wearing a UPS shirt when he bonded out of jail, but did not say whether he worked for the company.
