DeSantis to local police: ‘Do what you need to do’ to deal with spring break crime

‘We have seen things in Miami Beach,’ DeSantis says

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis was at the Florida Sheriffs Association Conference on Tuesday when he mentioned he took notice of crime during spring break in Miami Beach.

DeSantis spoke during the conference at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Walton County and he encouraged police chiefs to “do what you need to do” to deal with crime.

“We have seen things in Miami Beach. We have resources available. We want to work proactively with the local jurisdictions,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis said local law enforcement counts on the support of state agencies to make sure that spring breakers don’t get in the way of businesses or impact “the quality of life of our residents.”

After his failed Republican presidential primary run against former President Donald Trump, DeSantis also continued to attack President Joe Biden as not being tough enough on immigration.
